Unless the Lord builds the house, They labor in vain who build it. Psalms 127:1
When we reach a certain age, our desire is to get married and form a family. We fix our eyes on the person we like, who makes us feel good, and a yearning awakens for being by their side and never being apart. We start dreaming about that day and what life will be like next to that person we love.
Our ears are shut and we do not listen to the advice of anybody. We start seeing through the eyes of the other person and many times this makes us forget about God and what He wants for our life. Furthermore, we do not give Him the rightful place in our relationship and we get to marriage without taking Him into consideration.
A marriage cannot be supported on a desire, an illusion. It can only have support on Christ, if He is in our lives. He prepares us for an enduring relationship, building not a house but a home based on respect, love, purity, understanding, loyalty and faithfulness.
Many homes have been destroyed because they never let Him participate and thought that only love or attraction was enough to stay together and endure each crisis that every marriage is subject to suffer. Yet it is costly to be edified, for it is necessary to pull out all the material that is damaged or useless and place the good one, the useful one, which can only be achieved when He is our master builder.
