Everything we like, which does not please Him, will be taken away from us
And that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness. Ephesians 4:24
When our hearts repent and we convert to Christ, a very distinct process starts in our lives, many times a painful one and almost impossible to bear, but it is necessary for the work in us to be perfected.
The new man must leave all his old clothing, which represent his past, and strip them off him in order to clothe with righteousness and holiness. We cannot follow Christ if we still keep the past alive, since it represents everything from the flesh, the soul and the emotions, which interrupts the process of transformation that He wants to make in us.
The decision implies courage, for everything we like, which does not please Him, will be taken away from us. That which we like, it pleases our flesh, which competes against our spiritual life. Yet, when God chooses, He does not fool around. He immediately starts working on us.
Will it hurt? Yes, but his perfect love will give us the strength to conquer our weaknesses until we can see what we were before and what we are now. This will lift us up to remain in the hands of the Potter who needs to finish the vessel we are.
