It is up to us to break away from evil

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9
Every day, we have to live through a very tough fight between good and evil, and it depends on us which the winner is; for it is up to us to break away from evil.
This is more important than we think, since we can be doing something that seems good, but it is just the opposite; for we lack the understanding to make us see that what we are doing is not good. As a result, we let ourselves be seduced by appearances, which are full of evil.
That is why the battle is arduous; evil conceals itself and appears to be the best. We must have discernment not to fall into its trap, but fight it to the end of our days with the power of the Spirit, rejecting everything that is outside the order of God.
We can achieve this thanks to the Holy Spirit, who reveals the truth to us and gives us the strength to say “No”, even when we are full of weaknesses; for we want to do what does not benefit us despite having knowledge of good and evil.
