The one who loves, he disciplines

If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. Hebrews 12:7-8
So many times our parents disciplined us and we did not understand what they did it. On the contrary, we judged them and got angry against such disposition. But later on we have lived through similar experiences again, not as children but as parents; this has given us the opportunity to understand why they did it. It was necessary for them to be strong and discipline us so things could get right. For today we would be lost, had they not done it.
How wrong of us to think that if we love there is no need for discipline, and if we do discipline is because we do not love! Certainly, the one who loves, he disciplines; if we stop doing so is because the love of Christ is not really in us. Timely discipline prevents many wrongs; it causes us to understand that things have to be earned with obedience and sacrifice.
God treats us as children. That is why He disciplines us, because it is necessary for us to receive formation so nothing will make us deviate from our purpose. Discipline hurts, but this suffering is the training camp for reaching spiritual maturity.
We must stand firm in our conviction that God does it because we are his children. If not, we would be illegitimate. He is our heavenly Father who watches over us and does not want anything He has given us in the heavens to be lost. That is why, in order to receive it in the natural, we must accept with gratitude what He does for us out of love. Let us ask Him to show us what He wants to teach us. This will come to pass because He is preparing something big for us.
