Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. 2 Corinthians 7:1
God has given us countless promises through his Son Jesus Christ, which make us participants of every blessing from Heaven. These are irrevocable, for a promise is God’s covenant with his people.
God does not forget his promises so He rushes their fulfillment, since his name is on the line; for He is not a human being, that he should change his mind. That is, they are one hundred percent guaranteed on his part. But it is not like that on our part; for those promises, in order for them to become ours, we must purify ourselves in body and spirit. We must be aware that we are not fit for receiving them while in sin.
So, let us cast aside any defilement that surrounds us and keeps us out of the blessing from God. Every day, let us be courageous and perfect holiness out of reverence for the Lord, which is loving what He loves and hating what He hates. Let us seek, unceasingly, the presence of the Holy Spirit, who cares for us not to give into any temptation and also separates us from sin, keeping ourselves pure to receive what was promised.
