Like Him in his death and his resurrection

All I want is to know Christ and to experience the power of his resurrection, to share in his sufferings and become like him in his death, in the hope that I myself will be raised from death to life. Philippians 3:10-11

We must know that there is a purpose to everything; that is, the reason why God allowed or has allowed difficult situations to happen to us, which shake us to the point of seeing our heart torn into pieces. The fact that they happen to us does not mean that He does not care for us or that He forgot us. Such things must happen so our character can be perfected, Christ’s way, for we can only attain to his likeness as we learn to die with Him.

The man who has not developed character will not be able to accomplish his calling, for he will not have the strength to face the enemy who makes opposition to us reaching our destiny. Character is developed with much pain, affliction, suffering, agony and helplessness for not being able to make things change. When such things happen, we should not complain or moan, but just give Him the glory and tell Him “Your will be done”.

At such moments, we should seek his presence more, by way of fasting, prayer, sackcloth; for these help us grow strong and be more sensitive to his voice, thus canceling the desires of the flesh that want us to rebel because of our situation.

Let us not faint, until He finishes the work in us and we can be crowned with the character of Christ, which will cause our purpose to be fulfilled when we have become like Him in his death and his resurrection.
