Our character needs to be worked on

Our character needs to be worked on

“Take the rod; you and your brother Aaron gather the congregation together. Speak to the rock before their eyes, and it will yield its water […] Then Moses lifted his hand and struck the rock twice with his rod… Numbers 20: 8, 11
The plans God has for our lives are extraordinary, and He lets us know so in order to show us that He is with us. That is why his voice will never be hushed; even if we are in the desert, He will talk to us; for his wish is for us to have provision at the place where we are, and not to perish because of any need, since deserts are transitory, not definite.
For this reason, we cannot allow nonconformity to make us rebel against his Word and not obey the orders we receive. Thus, our bad character surfaces and wastes everything away. Just like Moses, who in a single moment lost the promise of entering Canaan for not obeying God when he hit the rock, and he only had to give an order for the water to pour out.
This shows us that our character needs to be worked on, even when we believe that it is already transformed, because we can lose everything. Let us learn that it is not arrogance that will take us out of the desert, but humility and obedience.
