Put yourselves to the test and judge yourselves, to find out whether you are living in faith. Surely you know that Christ Jesus is in you? —unless you have completely failed. 2 Corinthians 13:5
We do not have to wait for the test to know if we are really firm. Before that happens, we must examine ourselves and ask a series of questions in order to confirm our current state. It would be convenient to ask ourselves: If I become unemployed, would I keep on loving the Lord the same way?; if I run out of money, would I not question Him?; if I get sick, would I not lose faith?; if I have no children, would I not lose joy?; if I do not get married, would it not affect me at all?
If the answer to each one is a statement like that of Apostle Paul when he said that “nothing will separate me from Him”, for there is nothing greater than Him in the heavens, on earth or at sea… This guarantees our reaction in the midst of the test. Many confess such a great faithfulness and they boast about what they would be capable of doing out of the great love they have for Him, but they abandon their Savior when they are attacked by the many tests. Thus, they demonstrate that the love they professed was not real but conditional.
The one who passes the test is the one who knows that Christ is with Him in the midst of pain, despair, anguish, fear. This makes him strong so he will not fail. It even renews his strength for him to face said tests and show that his love is real.
