In the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:8
Sometimes we wonder why we have to keep ourselves so much, stop doing what we like so we please God. And we ask ourselves “Is it worth so much sacrifice?” We see others have fun and enjoy in their own way. They live with no concerns, only for the moment.
This causes us to reason over the things of God, especially youngsters. It makes us question “Why can’t we do it?” But, how will God feel in Heaven when He sees that his people did not understand Christ’s sacrifice and rejects the incorruptible for the corruptible?
The world sets things out at its whim; it blinds us and makes us forget the promise of God, who has reserved for us the crown of righteousness, on the final day. It is awarded to those who have learned to battle against the world, their own flesh and darkness, being faithful to the One who became a man to give us eternal life.
This life is temporary, but there is another life which is eternal. Only those who understood the value of keeping themselves and staying away from the things of the world that used to make them corrupt, they do deserve this crown. That is why it is well worth it to drop that which subtracts from you and join that which multiplies for you.
