Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching. Proverbs 1:8
What a great blessing when we can be attentive to the words of our parents and receive them with gladness, knowing that they have authority over us!
The father is the one who brings correction, in love, not to hurt the heart of his children; and the mother invests her time in teachings useful for them. But many resist the teachings of their parents and rebel when given correction because they do not accept for someone to tell them what they have to do.
Jesus is our example. He always obeyed the Father in everything because He understood that in the obedience there was the blessing. Even when his sweat was drops of blood, He submitted and obeyed in love.
Let us accept correction, with love, because this way we are honoring God through our obedience. And the result will be glorious because our parents’ experiences in the ways of the Lord are the ones they will teach us, so neither things go wrong for us in our lives nor the plan of God is interrupted, for not obeying their teachings.
